PEI OPEN FARM DAY TOUR

W.P. Griffin Inc. was pleased to participate in this years province wide Open Farm Day Tours. Over 125 farms in Atlantic Canada including 23 on PEI opened their doors to the public this year. Garth Smallman, Warehouse Manager at W.P. Griffin Inc., left, is showing guests the newly renovated Packaging Wash Plant. Sceond from the left, Travis and Bernie Dykerman of Brookfield and Ron and Liz Maynard of Port Hill. John Griffin is showing their Microwave Ready shrink-wrapped single and tray pack potatoes. This year was the first time the company participated in the farm day program. The level of interest in the tour was a pleasant surprise.

ROTARY ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE

John Griffin, second left, was inducted as the new incoming president, of the Summerside Rotary Club during the Annual Meeting Sept. 27, 2005. Wayne Thompson, left, is the new vice-president, Dave Anderson is the past president and Stephen Cudmore, secretary. The Summerside Rotary Club is a community-based service organization that meets every Tuesday morning at 7:15am at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht.

AIB - Food Safety Excellent Rating Awarded

AIB - American Instutite of Baking awarded W.P. Griffin Inc. with an "Excellent Rating 2005". Food Safety is a high priority at W.P. Griffin Inc. From farm record keeping to GPS farming equipment to specializied training our farm is committed to be a leader in Food Safety and sustainable farming practices. Our potato wash plant received a major expansion and upgrade in the fall of 2004. This new state-of-the-art facility received its first AIB audit last week and was awarded a "Excellent Rating 2005". I would like to congratulate all of our dedicated staff for their commitment to W.P. Griffin Inc. and our Food Safety Program. I would also like to give a special thank you to Christina Gaudet (our Technical Development Specialist) for her leadership and hard work. Thank You, John & Peter Griffin

Sobey's & IGA Ontario Introduce Microwave Ready Potatoes

W.P. Griffin Inc. is pleased to announce that Sobey's & IGA stores in Ontario have launched Griffin Microwave Ready potatoes. These healthy quick & convenient Microwave Ready potatoes are ready for the microwave. You don't have to pierce them with a fork, just put one in the microwave for 5-7 min.'s or two for 10-12 min.s'. Cooking instructions and other information is available on the inside of the label. Watch for new innovative potato products in the future at the Sobeys family of stores in Eastern Canada.

Successful Week at the CPMA

W.P. Griffin Inc. staff were very happy with the response they received at the CPMA tradeshow in Toronto at the TMCC on May 12th & 13th. Several industry people were very impressed with our new products and our display. Our Microwave Ready single and 3 Baker Tray packs received lots of attention. We were pleased to have Doug Walker from Dole/Profresh join us in our booth to help promote the Dole line of products.
