Our Values

The Founders

Wilfred Patrick Griffin, founder of W.P. Griffin Inc., was born May 24, 1928 to Thomas and Mary Griffin in Brocton, Prince Edward Island. He graduated from St. Dunstan's in 1946 and began his career as a teacher. In 1947, at age 19, Wilfred became involved in the potato industry as a business manager for Ronald McKenna in Elmsdale. By 1958 he had become sole proprietor and subsequently, in 1969 incorporated W. P. Griffin Inc. as it is known today.

Wilfred married Mary Ellen (Marie) Gaudet on Nov. 10, 1962. Marie worked in the office from 1967 to 1997. Marie worked side-by-side with Wilfred as the business grew from 100 acres to over a thousand acres. Together they raised a family of four children, Barbara, Peter, John and Eleanor; all of whom work in the family business. Their sons, John and Peter, joined them in the family business and expanded to the modern packing facility of the present day.  Peter eventually became the Vice President and Operations Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 2017.

Our Mission

We strive to provide the highest quality products at a fair and competitive price, while engaging our well trained staff to be the best they can be in the growing, harvesting, storage, packaging and marketing of our products.
