Potato/Ham soup- <font color=D61602>2nd Place Winner 2013</font>

10-12 Cups water4 L
3-4 cupdiced cooked ham1 L
1 tspDry dill weed5 ml
1/3 cup diced celery83 ml
1 tsp black pepper5 ml
1green onion1
4 Tbsp chicken bouillon60 ml
1/3 cup finely chopped onion83 ml
10-12 Cups3 Med potatoes4 L
1 tspParsley flakes5 ml
5 Tbsp butter75 ml
2 cupsmilk500 ml
5 Tbspflour75 ml
3 cupsCarrots (chopped)750 ml


Combine the potatoes, celery, onion, ham and water in a pot. Bring to a boil, then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the chicken bouillon, pepper.dill weed,parsley flakes
In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour with a fork, and cook, stirring constantly until thick, about 1 minute. Slowly stir in milk as not to allow lumps to form until all of the milk has been added. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until thick, 4 to 5 minutes.
Stir the milk mixture into the pot, and cook soup until heated through. Serve immediately.
