Downhome Boiled Dinner

1onion, large whole1
to coverwaterto cover
1head of cabbage, quartered1
1 1/5 lbscorned beef680g
1turnip small, cubed1
4carrots, large sliced4
8potatoes, russet/baking whole or halved your choice skin on or off8

In a large stewing pot cook corned beef in water (just enough to cover-) Simmer for 1 hour. Add whole peeled onion and quartered cabbage to pot, adding enough water to cover. Simmer for 1 hour.
Add cubed turnip, sliced carrots and potatoes. (depending on size I add them whole or halve the really large ones.) Add enough water to cook. Boil for about 1 more hour or until potatoes are cooked through. Enjoy!
